Medicare Health Insurance Now?

If  65  is right around the corner for you, it's time to find out what Medicare health insurance can do for you.  You need to know whether and when you will be eligible and what to apply for.

First of all, it’s easy now to find out everything you need to know about Medicare health insurance and to get all of your questions answered.  You can do it right on line at the Medicare website.

With a simple, three question questionnaire, you can learn whether you are eligible to apply for Medicare and when your eligibility period begins.  You can find out whether to apply for Medicare Part A or B if you are still working.

On the Medicare website you will learn what Medicare covers in the way of health, hospitalization and prescription drug costs.  You will learn what preventive screenings and tests are provided for you, and hear about new programs and legislation the government has developed to improve the benefits of the Medicare health insurance plans.

First of all, if you are 65, have worked and earned Medicare benefits for 10 years or more and have been a citizen of the United States for at least 5 years, you are eligible to apply for Medicare.

If you are still working, and have group insurance through your employer, you will probably want to wait to apply for Medicare Part B.  It will not be that beneficial to you and you don’t want to have to pay the premium.  On the other hand, Medicare Part A can benefit you even though you may still be covered by your employer.  It can help to pay costs your insurance company doesn’t cover.

Medicare is provided through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.  In an effort to provide better and more comprehensive services to Medicare beneficiaries, the Affordable Care Act was passed.  One of the benefits of this Act is the development of more comprehensive health care for those who suffer from several chronic diseases and are provided with health care by different physicians at various sites.
